IMPA senior researcher Carolina Araujo started 2019 with a full schedule. She began a sabbatical at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) in Berkeley, United States; assumed the vice-presidency of the Committee for Women in Mathematics of the International Mathematical Union (IMU); and is organizing the first National Meeting of Women Mathematicians, to be held in July, according to a report in Quanta Magazine.

Quanta, an online publication of the prestigious Simons Foundation, an American institution that funds research in mathematics and basic sciences, features a lengthy report on the researcher in the field of Algebraic Geometry.
