IMPA Receives Equivalency Determination from NGO Source

IMPA received an Equivalency Determination (ED) from NGO Source, valid through December 31, 2027. The registration indicates that the Institute was deemed equivalent to an organization classified as Public Charity in the United States for the purpose of receiving support from an international funder.

The NGO Source logo is now available on the IMPA website’s home page, alongside the logos of other institutions and international partners.

NGO Source is an initiative of the Council on Foundations and TechSoup created to help U.S. funders evaluate international organizations and streamline the review processes required for making grants.

Based on an analysis of institutional documents, legal structure, governance, and financial information, NGO Source conducts an Equivalency Determination (Equivalency Determination), a procedure that allows U.S. funders to support foreign organizations in accordance with the rules applicable to entities classified as Public Charities in the U.S.

According to NGO Source, the “Equivalency Determination on File” seal is for informational purposes only and indicates that, at a certain point in time, the organization was deemed equivalent to a specific funder for a defined period. The seal does not constitute a legal designation, but serves as a reference to facilitate future funding evaluations.

With this recognition, IMPA now has an additional tool to strengthen its international presence and expand its dialogue with institutions and funders interested in the development of mathematics, science, and innovation.
