IMPA publishing house reprints books by Elon Lages and Djairo Guedes.

The books “Course in Analysis, Volume 2” , by IMPA emeritus researcher Elon Lages, and “Fourier Analysis and Partial Differential Equations” , by retired Unicamp professor Djairo Guedes de Figueiredo, are once again available for purchase after being out of print for a period. IMPA publishers have reprinted the books, which can be purchased from the SBM (Brazilian Mathematical Society) .

The work "Course in Analysis, Volume 2" addresses functions of n real variables . Furthermore, it includes studies on the Topology of Euclidean Space, Differential and Integral Calculus in n dimensions, and differential forms on surfaces of R <sup>n</sup> . The author, mathematician Elon Lages, was director of IMPA (Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics) for three periods (1969-1971, 1979-1980, and 1989-1993), a full member of the ABC (Brazilian Academy of Sciences), and president of the Brazilian Mathematical Society (1973-1975). He also served on the National Education Council and the Higher Council of FAPERJ (Rio de Janeiro State Research Foundation). Lages is also the author of several books on Topology, Analysis, Algebra, and Elementary Mathematics, two of which won the Jabuti Prize.

In the book "Fourier Analysis and Partial Differential Equations," author Djairo Guedes de Figueiredo demonstrates and develops several methods for solving partial differential equations. The book also discusses a theory of Fourier series, heat conduction problems in a bar, problems for the one-dimensional wave equation, the Fourier transform, and the Dirichlet problem.

Figueiredo is a mathematician, civil engineer, and retired professor from the Institute of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science at Unicamp (SP). He is a full member of the ABC (Brazilian Academy of Sciences) and a CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) 1A researcher since 1985. In 1992, he was awarded the "Zeferino Vaz" Academic Recognition Grant by the University Council of UNICAMP, and in 1995, the Grand Cross of the Order of Scientific Merit.
