IMPA presents documentary 'Women in Science'

To mark International Women's Day, IMPA will screen the documentary "Women in Science" – a production of Mídia Ciência, a project committed to popularizing the field. The short film will be shown on March 20th at 4 PM in auditorium 3 of IMPA, and will include a discussion with André Mazini, general coordinator of the program, Lucas Verão, director of the documentary, and IMPA researcher Carolina Araujo. The event is open to the public. To participate, those interested should send their personal information, such as full name, identity document number, profession, and institution/company where they work, to the email comunicacao@impa.br . The deadline is March 19th.

The 50-minute documentary gives voice to the journeys of remarkable women committed to scientific production in Mato Grosso do Sul. In the film, scientists, professors, students, and administrators share the challenges, fears, victories, and motivations for pursuing academic careers. The documentary aims to foster support, investment, and recognition for women in this field.

“We want people to know who our female researchers are and how they strive to produce quality science in Mato Grosso do Sul. Giving these women a voice helps to publicize the work they do. More than that, if they are heard, they can inspire new female researchers to create their own stories for an increasingly egalitarian science,” highlights André Mazini on the MS+Ciência page.

The short film will also be screened at IMPA Tech on March 21st at 5 PM. At Porto Maravalley, the screening will be restricted to students and staff. The discussion will also include Asla Sá, Academic Manager of IMPA Tech, and Thais Correa, Career Development Manager.
