IMPA participates in the National Science and Technology Week.
When it comes to popularizing science, IMPA is not left out. The institute participates this Tuesday (20) in the 17th National Science and Technology Week (SNCT) , an event promoted annually by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) to bring young people closer to scientific and technological activities. At 9 am, researcher André Nachbin will present the lecture “Levitating a droplet using physics, mathematics and computing”, which will be broadcast on MCTI’s YouTube channel and on IMPA’s Facebook page .
“It is very important and fundamental for the general public, not only to be informed about how science and technology are present in our daily lives in various ways, but also about Brazil's performance in this area, even in the face of all the difficulties of the current moment,” Nachbin points out.

Brazil's team at the IMO is received by the President of the Republic.
In his presentation, the researcher will address the bouncing droplet problem, presented by the French physicist Yves Couder. “Mathematics is present in things we don't even imagine and is useful in various fields of knowledge. Through it, we move from one problem to another, connecting diverse subjects,” the researcher emphasizes.
With around 3 thousand activities from institutions, schools, centers, museums and parks across Brazil, the 17th National Science and Technology Week has the theme “Artificial Intelligence: The New Frontier of Brazilian Science”. The program runs until Friday (23) and is available on the event website .
