IMPA participates in seminar on three-dimensional technology.
The use of 3D technologies for the development of scientific research is the theme of the seminar organized by Dasa, in partnership with IMPA, Museu Nacional/UFRJ and PUC – Rio, this Thursday (8). The “2nd Seminar on Three-Dimensional Technologies Applied to Scientific Research – Metaverso” takes place in the auditorium of Alta Diagnósticos – Unidade Botafogo, from 4 pm to 8:30 pm. Participation is free, upon registration, which can be done via whatsapp.
The lectures address different aspects of scientific development and the application of technology in the fields of health and cultural heritage. Some of the examples presented will be projects developed by the coordinator of technological projects at IMPA, Jorge Lopes, and by the lead researcher of Visgraf (IMPA's Computer Graphics Laboratory), Luiz Velho, in collaboration with Dasa and the National Museum.

FAPERJ highlights 3D printing project
“Several projects culminated in this seminar, which portrays new media and the application of these technologies in such important areas. The projects are interconnected. We reconstruct parts starting with tomography, then we transform the images into objects using 3D printing and virtual reality images in the metaverse,” explained Luiz Velho, who opens the event with the lecture “Metaverse” at 4 pm.
Following the opening, Sergio Azevedo, coordinator of Lapid (Digital Image Processing Laboratory – National Museum), will present the lecture “The National Museum/UFRJ in the Metaverse: LapidVR, a new perspective”, at 5 pm.
At 6:20 PM, gynecologist and coordinator of the Biodesign Lab at Dasa and PUC-Rio, Heron Werner, will speak about "Medicine and Metaverse," alongside Jorge Lopes.
The event also features 3D workshops, offering virtual and augmented reality experiences to the public. Attendees will be able to interact with virtual reality headsets in the metaverse environment.
