IMPA participates in Science and Technology Week in Brasília.

IMPA is participating, from Monday (28) to Sunday (4), in Brasília, in the 19th edition of the National Science and Technology Week (SNCT), which, this year, has the theme “Bicentennial of Independence: 200 years of science, technology and innovation”.

The event, promoted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MTCI), takes place at the Exhibition Pavilion in Parque da Cidade. The objective is to mobilize the population, especially children and young people, around science and technology themes and activities, valuing creativity, scientific attitude and innovation.

With a 50-square-meter booth, IMPA will showcase a bit of the institution's history, its mission, and its contribution to science in Brazil. In addition, the space will feature an exhibition of mathematical objects, created in 3D from the collection of Imaginary, a German non-profit organization dedicated to the dissemination of mathematics.

The exhibition transforms abstract mathematics into images, making the science more understandable to the public. In addition, the IMPA space features logic games and toys, primarily aimed at children and young people. The goal is to demonstrate that teaching mathematics can be playful and engaging.

The various activities promoted during the National Science and Technology Week (SNCT) highlight the importance of science and technology in everyone's lives and for the country's development. The program includes science outreach activities, such as stands from units linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), science tents, lectures, courses, workshops, educational and scientific experiments, science theater, stargazing, debates, distribution of brochures and books, and video screenings.

From Monday to Friday, the event takes place from 8 am to 6 pm (until 7 pm on Wednesdays). Saturday and Sunday: from 9 am to 6 pm. More information can be found on the SNCT page.
