IMPA participates in ExpoT&C at the 77th Annual Meeting of SBPC.

IMPA is participating in ExpoT&C at UFRPE (Federal Rural University of Pernambuco) in Recife, Pernambuco. The science, technology, and innovation exhibition is being held during the 77th Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC), the largest scientific event in Latin America. Free and open to the public, the event's theme is: "Progress is Science in all Territories".

The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Luciana Santos, participated, this Monday (14), in the opening of the exhibition, which runs until Saturday (19). “SBPC is the largest event of the science academy in our country. In addition to the themes that concern public policies for science and technology, it is, above all, an event for the popularization and dissemination of science. We are fighting to transform the country, and there is no way to do this without science, technology and innovation. Long live Brazilian science and long live Pernambuco!”, she said.

Among the exhibitors are universities, research institutes, funding agencies, government entities, the business sector, and other interested organizations. ExpoT&C receives approximately 6,000 visitors daily.

The IMPA stand showcases the Institute's projects and the importance of mathematics in people's lives. This year, in celebration of the MCTI's 40th anniversary, the exhibition features a selection of IMPA's work from 1985 to 2025.

The program for the 77th Annual Meeting of the SBPC also includes conferences, roundtables, poster sessions, panels and mini-courses, bringing together students, professors and researchers from all over the country. During the event, this Thursday (17), the newly elected president of the SBPC for the 2025-2027 term, Francilene Garcia, will be inaugurated. Professor and researcher at UFCG (Federal University of Campina Grande), Francilene was one of the vice-presidents of the SBPC in the previous administration, was a visiting researcher at Tsinghua University (1996-1999), in China and executive secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation (CT&I) of the Government of Paraíba (2011-2018).
