IMPA opens selection process for researcher and offers postdoctoral fellowship.

IMPA (Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada) has two open selection processes for mathematicians. The institute is seeking a researcher specializing in pure, applied, or industrial mathematics – with a special emphasis on the sub-areas of Applied Mathematics and Industrial Mathematics – and also offers a postdoctoral fellowship open to all areas of mathematics. The position is initially probationary, with transition to permanent researcher assessed during the first four years. The monthly salary ranges from R$ 26,952.00 to R$ 28,898.57. Postdoctoral Fellowship in Mathematics

The scholarship is intended for researchers in Pure or Applied Mathematics, with a duration of two years, renewable for one more year, by agreement between IMPA and the scholarship recipient. The monthly stipend is R$ 9,000.00 (before taxes), with an annual bench fee of R$ 12,000.00, intended to finance academic travel and/or hosting visitors.

The selection process is open to candidates who have earned a Ph.D. within the last 10 years or who are expected to defend their thesis by August 2026, in Mathematics or related areas. Former IMPA students are eligible only if they defended their thesis more than 3 years prior to the application opening date.
