IMPA Opens Application Period for Nine PCI Scholarships
On Monday (21), IMPA opened the application process for nine scholarships for the Institutional Training Program (PCI/CNPq), intended to support research, technological development, and innovation in various areas of the Institute’s work. The fellowships are of the PCI Development (PCI-D) type, at levels B, D, and E, with an estimated duration of five or 12 months, depending on the position. Check out the announcement here.
The opportunities are distributed across Mathematics; Fluid Dynamics and Multiscale Dynamical Systems; Calculus of Variations, Optimization, or mathematical aspects of Quantum Information Theory; Pure and Applied Mathematics; and Scientific Software Development and Scientific Computing.
The positions are linked to three research projects: “Cutting-Edge Mathematical Research at IMPA: Analysis, Geometries, Dynamical Systems, and Representations”; “Mathematics of Complex Systems: Foundations, Modeling, and Artificial Intelligence”; and “Development of Mathematical and Computational Methods for Quantum Technologies: Applications in Quantum Materials and Machine Learning.”
Registration must be completed by September 25, exclusively by email to pci@impa.br. In the subject line, the applicant must include the job opening code for the position they are applying for, in the format “PCI Selection – Job Opening [job code]”. Each applicant may apply for only one position.
The application email must include an updated Lattes CV and a brief statement of interest (up to one page) indicating how your education, experience, and professional background align with the chosen position. Supporting documents verifying your qualifications and professional experience will be requested at a later date from selected candidates.
The selection process will be conducted by a Selection Committee and will be comparative and qualitative in nature. Factors to be considered include, among others, prior experience in scientific, technological, or innovation projects in the field of the position, the relevance of the candidate’s education and experience, and the alignment of the candidate’s academic and professional background with the competencies required for the position.
The selection results are scheduled to be announced on September 30, and the final results will be announced on October 5, which is also the expected start date for the scholarships. The implementation of the scholarships is contingent upon compliance with current CNPq regulations, the availability of the scholarship within the institutional project, and the formal nomination of the selected candidate.
