IMPA is hiring a project scientist.
IMPA is accepting applications for a project scientist position at the Pi Center (IMPA's Center for Projects and Innovation) . Candidates must hold a PhD in mathematics, statistics, data science, operations research, computer science, or other mathematics-related fields. This is a permanent position at IMPA. Interested candidates can apply until November 1st through the institute's website .
The fixed monthly remuneration ranges from R $ 12,357.30 to R$ 16,940.00 (gross amounts), to be supplemented with funds from projects carried out by Centro Pi, which may correspond to up to twice the fixed remuneration, between R $ 24,714.60 and R $ 33,848.00 (gross amounts). The selected candidate will work on preparing reports and technical papers, mentoring students, conducting regular academic master's and doctoral courses, among other activities.
Desirable qualifications include: a track record of high-quality research; the ability to lead and manage complex projects; experience in collaborative computer programming and with numerical and statistical software, among others. Prior experience with industrial projects or large open-source projects is a plus.
Applicants should submit a resume, cover letter, and statement of research conducted. When possible, include a list of previous publications on scientific and industrial projects. It is also necessary to provide contact information (name and email) for three experts who can write letters of recommendation. Preferably, at least one of these consultants should be from industry and one from academia.
The results will be announced by December 1Thursdays. The selected candidate will begin activities between January and February 2024.
About the Pi Center
Created in 2021, the Pi Center develops projects aimed at solving problems presented by companies and the public sector. In addition to transferring mathematics-based technologies, the center trains graduate students who participate in the projects alongside researchers. Partners include companies such as Dasa, Stone, Grupo Globo, Hurb, and Petrobras.
