IMPA is accepting applications for the Pro-Olympic program until February 7th.

IMPA opened registrations this Monday (23) for the 6th Olympic Teacher Improvement Program (Prolímpico), which aims to strengthen the Olympic culture in schools across the country and encourage the training of teachers focused on mathematical competitions.

Those interested can apply until February 7th through the IMPA website , and results will be sent by email. Registration is free. Classes will be held online between February 13th and 16th, 2023, and will be available on IMPA's YouTube channel.

"Our focus in this edition of the Pro-Olympic program is to present to teachers from all over the country some topics that are present in international competitions and that, even so, are connected to the school curriculum and can be applied in the classroom," highlighted Krerley Oliveira, coordinator of the program alongside Professor Samuel Barbosa.

Held since 2020, the program is divided into four modules. Level A is aimed at teachers of Elementary School I and covers content from the 3rd to the 5th grade. Level 1 focuses on teachers of Elementary School II, from the 6th and 7th grades; level 2 includes teachers from the 8th and 9th grades, and finally, level 3 is aimed at High School teachers. It is possible to register for more than one module.

The program's intention is to provide participants with more specific knowledge, according to their area of expertise, and to encourage an Olympic culture from an early age in schools.

The 6th edition of Prolímpico will cover the following topics: Behind the Olympic Problems; Combinatorics; Geometry; Arithmetic; International Intermediate Level Competitions and Applications of Complex Numbers in Olympic Problems. The program will also include problem-solving workshops and an evaluation of the mini-courses – which will take place via Google Classroom. Participants who complete all assessments will receive a digital certificate.
