IMPA has openings for researchers and postdoctoral fellows.
IMPA has two open positions for researchers specializing in applied mathematics. The positions will initially be on a probationary basis, with the possibility of becoming a permanent researcher after the first four years. The monthly salary will range from R $ 24,714.59 to R $ 33,847.99. The deadline for applications is November 1, 2023, and the final results will be announced in December of the same year. Selected researchers are expected to begin their activities at the institute between January and September 2024. (Tenure-track position in Applied Mathematics 2023)
To be eligible for the position, candidates must have research experience in Applied Mathematics or related fields such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Graphics, Fluid Dynamics, Mathematical Economics, Optimization, and Operations Research. Applications demonstrating potential for collaboration with industry, in a broad sense, are particularly welcome.

Postdoctoral fellowship
IMPA also announces a postdoctoral fellowship in mathematics. The fellowship is worth R $ 9,000 (excluding taxes) with an additional bench fee of R$ 1,000 per month to finance academic and/or visiting trips. The deadline for applications is November 1, 2023. The position is open to all areas of mathematics, both pure and applied.
To apply, you must hold a doctoral degree with a thesis defended less than 10 years ago, or have a thesis defense scheduled for August 2024, in Mathematics or related fields. Please note that IMPA alumni will only be considered eligible if they defended their thesis more than 3 years prior to the opening of applications. The selected candidate will have the freedom to conduct their own research program and must teach at least one postgraduate course per year. Interactions with IMPA students and researchers will be encouraged.
