IMPA calls up Olympic teams for training in São Paulo.

The Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) will begin the second training session for the Brazilian teams that will compete in the IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad), Southern Cone, and OMCPL (Mathematical Olympiad of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries) on June 18th. The training for the mathematical Olympiad competitions will take place at the Vila Mariana campus of Colégio Etapa (São Paulo) until July 1st.
Students selected to join the teams in the competitions will be invited to participate in the training sessions. There will also be spots available for 14 medalists from the OBMEP (Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad for Public Schools).

Approximately 480 OBMEP medalists, who are participating in the PIC program, took part in the selection process for the training. This is an opportunity for students from public schools to participate in training aimed at competing in an international olympiad. The selected students are: Rodrigo Salgado Domingos Porto, Vítor Lorenson Bortolini, Gabriel Nobuaki Nojima, Arthur Menezes Botelho, Laysa Gilles Guidi, João Pedro Tambosi, Guilherme Carvalho Senra, Jonatan de Lima Santos, Henrique Brunuro Krohling, Natália Bigolin Groff, Francisco Gabriel de Lima Brasil, Maria Eduarda Vieira de Farias da Silva, Matheus Peterle Modoloe, and Pedro Miguel Pereira Gonzaga Vianna.
IMO
The students selected for the IMO, the main international mathematics tournament, will undergo 15 days of intensive training (June 18 to July 1) for the competition, which this year will be held in the city of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, from July 3 to 14.
The goal is for Lucas Hiroshi Hanke Harada, André Yuji Hisatsuga, and Pedro Lucas Lanaro Sponchiado, from São Paulo (SP); Bruno Brasil Meinhart, from Fortaleza (CE); Pedro Gomes Cabral, from Recife (PE); and Bernardo Peruzzo Trevizan, from Canoas (RS), to be well-prepared to represent Brazil and improve on their 2017 results.
Southern Cone and OMCPLP
The training for the Southern Cone and OMCPLP teams will be shorter. The students selected for the tournaments ( see the names here ) will prepare from June 28th to July 1st. Special mention goes to Pedro Gomes Cabral, a student from Pernambuco, who qualified for both the IMO and the Southern Cone competitions.
This year, the Southern Cone conference will be held in Maceió (AL) between August 22 and 29, 2018, while the OMCPLP will take place in São Tomé and Príncipe, from September 2 to 8.
Selected students will receive an invitation by email. The message will contain all the conditions for participating in the training. Those interested must confirm their participation by [date]. June 4th.

Students who were not selected but wish to participate in the training may apply until June 4th . Those selected will also receive information about the participation requirements via email.
Academic Program
During the training, participants will have technical problem-solving classes and will take practice tests of international exams.
