IMPA announces postdoctoral fellowship in mathematics.

IMPA released this Wednesday (6) the call for applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in mathematics. The position is a partnership between the institute and the Centre National de La Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) . The position is for one year and may be renewed for another 12 months by mutual agreement between the parties. The position is intended for researchers who have been or are still linked to the French community in their academic career. The value of the fellowship is R $ 9,000, excluding taxes, with an additional bench fee of R $ 1,000 per month to finance academic and/or visiting trips. Check the call for applications here.

The position is open to all areas of mathematics, both pure and applied. To apply, candidates must hold a doctoral degree with a thesis defended less than 10 years ago, or have a thesis defense scheduled for August 2024, in mathematics or related fields. They must also have ties to the French mathematical community and intend to work in France in the future.

The selected candidate will have the freedom to conduct their own research program and will be required to teach at least one graduate course per year. Interactions with IMPA students and researchers will be encouraged.

Applications for this position should include: a research plan; a list of publications; a curriculum vitae; and the names and email addresses of at least three renowned mathematicians familiar with the candidate's work.

The deadline for submitting applications is April 15, 2024. According to the announcement, the results will be announced in May 2024. The selected candidate is expected to begin activities at IMPA in September of this year.
