Gold from the House: IMPA honors employees for their contribution.
IMPA has established itself as one of the largest Brazilian research institutes due to the academic excellence of its research staff and the impact of its activities and research. But IMPA's renown goes beyond that: behind the achievements, a team of professionals strives to build this history every day. This Thursday (22), they were honored by the institution and received gold, silver and bronze diplomas.
With smiles on their faces and much applause from the audience that filled the Ricardo Mañe auditorium, more than 70 employees received their well-deserved diplomas. Gold diplomas were awarded to those who completed 20 years or more of service to the institute; silver diplomas to those who have been with the institution for more than 10 years; and bronze diplomas to those who have been at IMPA for at least five years. Another 30 employees, already retired, will receive gold diplomas.
“I’ve worked here for 21 years and I feel like I’ve matured along with the institute. It’s a wonderful feeling to have been in this institution for so long and to have witnessed so many changes. I really enjoyed the ceremony, firstly for the recognition of being part of IMPA, but also for seeing so many people happy to be recognized as well. It’s very gratifying,” commented Adriana Mattos, who received a gold award.
Researchers Alcides Lins Neto, Alfredo Iusem, and Dan Marchesin, who are concluding their activities at the institute this year, were also honored with an award.
During the ceremony, the institute's director-general, Marcelo Viana, emphasized the importance of each of the teams in keeping the system running smoothly.
“The 70th anniversary celebrations gave us the opportunity to recognize, in a very special way, the fact that IMPA is not just a research institute, but an institution full of people who contribute to the development of this place. It is important that human value is always present in our memory,” said Viana.
Claudio Landim, deputy director of IMPA and general coordinator of OBMEP, dedicated his speech to all collaborators, especially those dedicated to the Olympiad. “It’s difficult to express how pleasant it is to work at IMPA. All employees are concerned with ensuring the institute functions very well! I have a task ahead of me with OBMEP that would be impossible without the entire logistical and academic team of the Olympiad, which helps and makes incredible work possible,” he emphasized.
The workers being honored are part of the institute's past, present, and future.
