The IMO 2017 has barely ended and Rio is already feeling nostalgic. This is the oldest and most prestigious scientific competition for high school students. Organized by the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA), this edition had a record participation of 623 students from 111 countries across five continents.

During these six days, Brazil was the focus of attention for the international mathematical community, comprised of millions of professionals, students, and admirers. And, to commemorate the event, a newspaper made especially for the competitors was distributed. In English, the publication includes everything from interesting facts about each delegation's mascot to an exclusive interview with Artur Avila and a special section honoring Maryam Mirzakhani, the only mathematician to win the Fields Medal.
