Daniel Ungaretti defends his thesis on percolation at IMPA.

Daniel Ungaretti Borges will defend his doctoral thesis this Thursday (10), at 1:30 pm, in room 236 of IMPA (Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics). Supervised by researcher Augusto Teixeira, from the area of Probability, he will present the thesis entitled “Planar continuum percolation: heavy tails and scale invariance”.

This is a study on percolation models that have long-range dependencies. Two continuous percolation models in the plane with heavy tails were studied: ellipses and the scale-homogeneous Poisson stick soup.

The evaluation committee will consist of Augusto Teixeira, Roberto Imbuzeiro, Hubert Lacoin and Milton Jara (IMPA), Marcelo Hilário, from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), and Serguei Popov, from the University of São Paulo (USP).
