Call for Applications for the Director General of the National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics – IMPA.

The Search and Selection Committee, of a temporary nature and appointed by the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) in accordance with article 38 of its Bylaws and item 3 of the Regulations for the Search and Selection Process of the General Director of IMPA, hereby announces the selection process for the position of General Director for the period from November 14, 2023 to November 13, 2027.

The coordination and execution of the selection process will be the responsibility of the Search and Selection Committee, which includes Dr. Antonio Gomes de Souza Filho (UFC), Dr. Jailson Bittencourt de Andrade (UFBA), Dr. Jerson Lima Silva (UFRJ), Dr. Jonas de Miranda Gomes (IMPA Board of Directors), and Dr. Márcia Cristina Bernardes Barbosa (IMPA Board of Directors).

The Search and Selection Committee will be responsible for receiving applications, classifying candidates, and preparing a shortlist of three candidates for subsequent presentation to the institution's Board of Directors, which will appoint the person to fill the position of General Director.

Candidates for the position of General Director must meet all of the following requirements:

1. To be an active academic researcher, holding a PhD, working in the field of Mathematics or related areas, with outstanding scientific production and recognized leadership;
2. not having been criminally convicted, in a final and unappealable decision or a decision rendered by a collegiate judicial body, from the time of conviction until the expiration of 8 (eight) years after the completion of the sentence; and
3. not having been sentenced to suspension of political rights, in a final and unappealable decision or a decision rendered by a collegiate judicial body, for a willful act of administrative misconduct that results in damage to public assets and illicit enrichment, from the time of the conviction until the expiration of a period of 8 (eight) years after the sentence has been served.

Applications must be submitted between June 26, 2023 and July 28, 2023 via email to comitedeselecao@impa.br . Candidates must send their complete resume and a brief description of their work plan for their management (maximum 3 pages).

This Notice and all acts inherent to the selection and choice process of the General Director will be governed by the Social Statute and the Regulations of the Search and Selection Process for the General Director of IMPA.
