The group's vice-leader,
Vitória Aparecida Santos Ferreira (SP), a doctoral student at IMPA, highlighted the group's progress. “Brazil once again has all four members of the team as medalists! Three bronze and one silver. It was a very significant achievement, as we are surrounded by high-performing countries with strong national training and a tradition in the EGMO. We showed Latin American strength and remain enthusiastic for the other competitions. This is Brazil's seventh participation in 13 editions of the EGMO, and we had a good position in the overall points total,” emphasized the student, who accompanied the women's delegation alongside the group leader, Maria Clara Werneck. The entire team is also a medalist in the OBMEP (Brazilian Mathematical Olympiad for Public Schools).

Last year, the Brazilian team, which included two of the current participants, Bilhana and Isabela, finished the EGMO 2023 with two bronze medals and an honorable mention, in 27th position in the overall ranking.

This year, the selection and training of the Brazilian delegation were promoted by the Brazilian Mathematical Olympiad Association (AOBM). The EGMO is a mathematics competition similar to the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). It was created in 2012 in the United Kingdom with the aim of encouraging the participation of girls in student mathematics olympiads. Brazil has participated in the competition since 2017. Today, the country has accumulated one gold medal, five silver medals, and 17 bronze medals. This edition had the participation of more than 200 students from 55 countries.
