In addition to them, the students representing the Military Engineering Institute (IME), led by Professor Nelson Borges, from Rio de Janeiro (RJ), won four bronze medals, securing fifth place among the participating teams.

This year, the competition brought together 51 university students divided into 22 teams representing Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Mexico.

Organized since 2009, the CIIM is aimed at undergraduate students who have mastered basic concepts of number theory, geometry, combinatorics, calculus, and algebra. The goal is to encourage the study of mathematics and academic excellence to improve scientific capacity and contribute to the social, cultural, and economic development of participating countries.

The Brazilian team that participated in the 11th Ibero-American Inter-University Mathematics Competition (CIIM) received external financial support to help cover the costs of the trip to Mexico.
