The National Institute of Science and Technology of Mathematics (INCTMat) is selecting candidates for Scientific Initiation scholarships in the areas of 'mathematics', 'applied mathematics' and 'statistics'. The INCTMat initiative, via the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), will grant aid of R$ 400 for the selected projects. Applications close this Sunday (10).

The opportunity offers scholarships to 15 projects lasting 12 months. Activities will begin between September and October of this year. Selection will be made from the Development Centers associated with INCTMat and CAPES-approved stricto sensu Postgraduate Programs.

INCTMat's deputy coordinator, Lorenzo Díaz, stated that the project has received new funding from funding agencies and, for 2023, is preparing to release new public calls for applications for undergraduate research grants, postdoctoral fellowships, and scientific events in Brazil.

“Undergraduate research grants are especially important because they allow interested students to begin research activities and delve deeper into the study of new topics. In the current post-pandemic situation, where students have suffered particularly from the isolation of recent years, these grants open up new perspectives. We expect the call for applications to be highly competitive ,” says the vice-coordinator.

To apply, interested professors should submit their request through the Postgraduate Program coordinator or the person responsible for the Development Center. A maximum of two applications per unit will be accepted. The call for applications is available on the INCTMat website.

The applications will be reviewed by the INCTMat Management Committee and the results will be announced by August 2Fridays.
