Applications are now open for the TIM-OBMEP Institute Scholarship.

OBMEP (Brazilian Public School Mathematics Olympiad) medalists entering a public university in the first semester of 2019 have another reason to celebrate. Applications for the TIM-OBMEP Institute Scholarship are open until March 26th.

In 2019, 50 maintenance scholarships will be offered. The program is an initiative of the TIM Institute, in partnership with the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) and OBMEP, to support students who wish to dedicate themselves full-time to their undergraduate studies.

The areas covered are Astronomy, Biology, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Medicine, and Chemistry. The scholarship of R$ 1,200 is granted for 12 months, renewable annually, up to a limit of 48 months – generally, the time needed to complete an undergraduate course. Renewal of the benefit is conditional upon an evaluation of the scholarship recipient's performance.

The selection and evaluation of candidates will be carried out by an academic committee appointed by the IMPA administration and the Academic Extension Programs Coordination.

The criteria considered in the evaluation will be: academic merit, through the ENEM result, performance in OBMEP editions and school record; socioeconomic situation; and relevance of financial support for the candidate's academic and professional trajectory.

The results of the selection process will be released on April 11th on the OBMEP website and the TIM-OBMEP Institute Scholarship portal. Those selected must submit the necessary documentation between April 12th and 18th.
