Alliance for Innovation workshop brings together leaders at Casa Firjan

On Tuesday (7), Casa Firjan hosted the Alliance for Innovation Workshop, a meeting that brought together representatives from scientific institutions, the government and the productive sector to discuss strategies for strengthening the innovation ecosystem in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Marcelo Viana, director-general of IMPA and a member of the Alliance for Innovation Board, highlighted the importance of the initiative.

“This is a decisive moment for the Alliance as it defines its strategic actions for the development of Rio de Janeiro’s innovation ecosystem. IMPA is very well placed to make a relevant contribution to this process.”

At the meeting, one of the main points discussed was the Alliance’s role in the state’s development. According to the participants, the current moment is one of structural construction and then moving on to more operational actions.

Among the proposals put forward was the need to map existing actors, projects and initiatives, promoting greater integration between them. The idea is to take advantage of success stories and boost connections that are already underway. The group also emphasized the importance of strengthening public policies focused on innovation.

Other points highlighted at the meeting were the need for more efficient and integrated communication, as well as the importance of developing innovation leaders capable of representing and driving forward the initiatives discussed.

The diversity and equity agenda appeared as a central element, reinforcing the need for a more inclusive ecosystem, as well as the need to diversify the state’s economy.

In the area of contributions from the institutions themselves, there were proposals to increase the synergy between startups, companies, the government and science and technology institutions. Among the points raised were: expanding funding for startups, strengthening technology transfer, bringing the market and academia closer together and promoting events and outreach actions

The Alliance for Innovation Workshop reinforced the role of coordination between different sectors as a key element in transforming Rio de Janeiro’s potential into concrete results. The hope is that the ideas discussed will lead to practical action, consolidating a more dynamic and integrated environment for innovation in the state.

Launched in June last year, the Alliance for Innovation brings together representatives of government bodies, research institutions, startups and investment funds with the aim of leveraging the innovation ecosystem throughout the state.
