Waves in Fluids IV

Waves in Fluids brings together world-leading researchers whose expertise covers undulatory phenomena in hydrodynamics, including surface waves, internal waves, waves propagating over accidented topography, solitary waves, as well as mathematical aspects of water waves and atmospheric waves. Three editions of Waves in Fluids have been held in the past (2006, 2008, 2011).

The fourth edition of Waves in Fluids will take place in May 2027 at IMPA in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in celebration of the 70th birthday of Prof. André Nachbin. This event will bring together research collaborators and alumni of Prof. Nachbin, alongside other researchers and students working in fluid dynamics, wave propagation, applied analysis, mathematical modeling and scientific computing. In addition to celebrating Prof. Nachbin’s scientific contributions, the event will recognize his lasting impact on the training of new generations of scientists and his role in strengthening research on waves in fluids in Brazil and internationally. It will also provide an opportunity to foster scientific exchange, strengthen existing collaborations, and establish new connections among researchers working at the interface of mathematics, fluid dynamics, and wave phenomena.
