About the IMPA Journalism Award
The initiative aims to stimulate and recognize journalistic works of excellence that bring Mathematics, Science and Technology closer to society. Divided into two categories, Mathematics and Scientific Dissemination, the contest will pay a total of R$ 36 thousand to the winners. Reports on TVs, newspapers, magazines, websites, radios and podcasts can participate.
The prizes are identical in both categories: R$10 thousand for 1st place, R$ 5 thousand for 2nd and R$3 thousand for 3rd place.
This year the award ceremony will be on Saturday, September 7, at the National Mathematics Festival (FestMat), an event promoted by IMPA for the general public, which will take place between September 5 and 7 at Marina da Glória, in Rio de Janeiro. With the theme “Mathematics is Innovation”, FestMat wants to show how science is behind technological advances, in addition to bringing discipline closer to children and also adults.

Registration: May 20th to June 27th
Period of publication or exhibition of the reports: July 1, 2023 and June 23, 2024.
Awards Ceremony: September 7 at the National Math Festival in Rio de Janeiro.
