New Post-doctorate position open at IMPA

The Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) invites applications for a one-year post-doctorate position (renewable) with a monthly stipend of BRL 8.900,00 (after taxes). The position is intended for young researchers working on Applied Mathematics. Applications focusing on mathematical methods for solving problems of interest to some productive sector in Brazil (e.g., energy, transportation, fuels, communications and financing) are particularly welcome. 

Candidates with doctorates in areas other than Mathematics (e.g., Engineering, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, etc.), are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have obtained their PhD degrees after March 31, 2013. Candidates who expect to finish their doctorates until December 2017 will be accepted.

Applications should be made online here until October 15th, 2017, including a research plan and curriculum vitae, containing, at least, an updated publication list, institution and date of doctoral degree, thesis title and advisor’s name.

Candidates might also include in their applications documents from companies in the productive sector expressing their interest in the candidate’s research. Candidates must indicate in the application system at least 3 names and e-mails from renowned scientists to send letters of recommendation (free format).
