Post-doctoral of Excellence in Symplectic Geometry

IMPA (Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada) announces one special post-doctoral position (Post-Doc of Excellence) in Symplectic Geometry funded by the Serrapilheira Institute. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in symplectic topology, contact geometry or gauge theory. The position is for two years with a possible extension for another year. It comes with a monthly stipend of BRL 9.000,00 (after taxes) and an international ticket per year. Further travel funds may be granted for participation in conferences. The candidates must have obtained their Ph.D. later than March 31, 2016. Each candidate will also indicate the names and email addresses of not less than 3 renowned mathematicians. These mathematicians will receive an email message containing information on the candidate and instructions on how to submit a recommendation letter. The screening of candidacies will start on December 1st, 2019.

The decisions will be announced in January 2020 and the selected candidates will start their activities at IMPA at a date of their convenience, preferably between March 1st and September 1st, 2020. Candidates who have not yet finished their Ph.D. may be selected, as long as their thesis defense takes place before their arrival to IMPA.
