The course
PROFMAT aims to serve Mathematics teachers working in basic education, especially in public schools, who seek improvement in their professional training, with emphasis on the in-depth mastery of mathematical content relevant to their teaching performance.
The Program operates on a large scale, with the objective of, in the medium term, having a substantive impact on the mathematical training of teachers throughout the national territory. It is a semi-presential course, with a national offer, carried out by a network of Higher Education Institutions (including IMPA) in the context of the Open University of Brazil, coordinated by the Brazilian Mathematical Society (SBM).
Admission to the Professional Master’s Degree in Mathematics in the National Network is carried out through an annual access exam, organized by the Brazilian Mathematical Society.
