Yves Lequain

He is French from Lille. Wanting to discover the world and thinking that, because it is universal, mathematics could open the doors of universities in many countries, he chose to study mathematics. He did his undergraduate studies in Lille and his graduate studies in the United States, obtaining his doctorate at the University of Louisiana, in Baton Rouge. He came to Rio de Janeiro in 1970 to spend a year; having discovered the sun – unknown to the residents of Lille – he has stayed until today. He fulfilled his dream of youth by accepting short-term invitations to universities in several countries. His area of research is Commutative Algebra.
