Johann Baumaister

Born in Oberzeitldorn, Bavaria, Johann Baumeister received his doctorate in 1974 from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and completed his habilitation in 1978 at the Freie Universität Berlin. Since 1979, he has held a permanent position at the Goethe Universität Frankfurt, where he has been developing his academic and research activities.

He is the author of one of the first books on inverse problems (published by Vieweg in 1987), which influenced an entire generation of mathematicians. A zealous advisor, he keeps the door open for his students, always receiving them with attention and patience.
