About

The author started in Computing around the late IBM 1620 computer, installed in 1962, at the then Center for Numerical Calculation of the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo. He graduated as an Electronic Engineer from that School. He undertook postgraduate studies abroad, obtaining a Ph.D. degree in Computing.

He graduated in 1969, and obtained a Ph.D degree at Stanford University in 1977, he was a Professor at USP. His areas of interest are: algorithm analysis and complexity theory.
