Born in Vitória, ES, he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from the Federal University of Espírito Santo in 1990. In the same year, he joined IMPA, where he obtained his master’s degree in 1992 and his doctorate in Mathematics in 1994, under the supervision of César Camacho. His line of research is focused on the application of geometric methods in Singularity Theory and Foliation Theory, real or complex. He is currently an associate professor at the Institute of Mathematics of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He is a father and passionate fan of Fluminense.
