Professional Development Program for High School Mathematics Teachers

The Professional Development Program for High School Mathematics Teachers – PAPMEM – consists of free training for mathematics teachers throughout Brazil. It has been running since 1990, covering topics related to high school education.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the next edition of PAPMEM will be virtual, from January 25th to 29th, 2021, and broadcast on IMPA's YouTube channel at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/user/impabr
This program resulted in a series of books specifically designed for high school teachers, published in the Brazilian Mathematical Society's (SBM) Mathematics Teacher Collection . In another phase, which was supported by the CAPES-FAPERJ program, the books entitled The Mathematics of High School – vol. 1 , vol. 2 and vol. 3 were produced.
Program details
- Course Organization
The program is conducted in independent modules, covering selected topics from all three years of high school and some topics from elementary school. In each module, activities take place during school breaks in January and July. - Location
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the next edition of PAPMEM will be virtual. We will have the support and partnership of the coordinators of the centers. Classes will be broadcast on IMPA's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/impabr - Other information:

All students from Brazil must register through this website between January 4th and 18th, 2021.
– From Monday to Thursday, two classes will be available at 9:00 AM on IMPA's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/impabr
– After each class, we will send exercises in the form of an online form that must be answered on the same day by 10 PM. This answer will also be used to record the student's attendance.
– If any student has questions about the subjects, they must submit their questions by Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 4 PM so that the teachers can analyze them and, if relevant, answer them on Friday.
All students who complete all exercises will receive a certificate of participation, which will only be in digital format.
