Olympic Teacher Improvement Program

The Olympic Teacher Improvement Program – PROLÍMPICO aims to offer free training for mathematics teachers throughout Brazil, covering topics related to mathematics olympiads in basic education.

The program will be held over four full days, from 9 am to 5 pm, independently during the months of January and July, during the school break.

Program details

  • Course Organization
    The program will be conducted in independent modules, covering selected topics from the Basic Education mathematics olympiads. Each module will be aimed at teachers of Elementary School I ( 3rd to 5th grade ) and Middle School II and High School (6th grade of Middle School II to 3rd year of High School). In each module, activities will take place during school breaks in January and July.
  • Training development
    Each of the training groups will consist of 100 teachers in the State of Rio de Janeiro and 30 to 40 teachers in the multiplier centers at universities in all Brazilian states. Each module consists of full-time training (from 9 am to 5 pm) for one week. Daily activities consist of lectures in the morning and group work in the afternoon.
  • Location
    Each module of the program will be held simultaneously at IMPA and partner institutions throughout the country. Lectures will be broadcast live via the internet from IMPA to participating institutions in other states, using the infrastructure of the National Education and Research Network (RNP). Participating professors will be able to submit questions during the lectures using a chat program. Afternoon activities will be conducted locally.

Professors residing and working in the state of Rio de Janeiro who wish to take the course at IMPA.

Registration period: December 10, 2019 to January 17, 2020

The results will be sent by email approximately one week before the start of the course.
