Library
The Library of the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics – IMPA aims to facilitate access to culture, information, education, and leisure, thus contributing to raising the cultural level and quality of life of citizens. Furthermore, it intends to:
- To preserve, value, promote and disseminate written heritage in order to strengthen national and regional cultural identity;
- To provide conditions for the enjoyment of literary, scientific, and artistic creation, fostering the development of the individual's critical capacity;
- To disseminate useful and up-to-date information, in various formats, satisfying the needs of the academic community; to encourage the habit of reading.
The IMPA Library is a leading center for Pure and Applied Mathematics in Brazil. It is among the most comprehensive in the world. Its collection of 38,000 volumes of classic and modern books and 60,000 volumes of periodicals is available to the scientific community.
ATTENTION: For security reasons, access to IMPA premises outside of business hours [8:30 am to 6:00 pm] requires prior authorization .
