The group Flor do Samba presents the show:
FEMININE SAMBA
The history of samba is represented almost exclusively by male names. It is rare to find female composers or instrumentalists within the genre. The female names that stand out are usually those of performers. However, a change is emerging in this scenario, with the growing presence of female instrumentalists and composers within samba. The show "Feminino Samba" will present compositions by female samba artists, from the renowned Dona Ivone Lara and Jovelina Pérola Negra to the new generation represented by names such as Manuela Oiticica, Iara Ferreira, Andréa Dutra, among others.
About the group:
From the meeting of women musicians passionate about samba, the group Flor do Samba was born.
Composed of Manoela Marinho (vocals and guitar), Luciana Oliveira (vocals and cavaquinho), Luciana Jablonski (vocals and percussion), Luciana Requião (percussion) and Georgia Câmara (percussion), plus a special guest, the group – formed only by women – has already performed in various bars in the city and today holds a monthly event at Fuska Bar, on the trendiest corner of Humaitá.
