IMPA, Rio de Janeiro, July 30 to August 5, 2017
The Brazilian Mathematics Colloquium (CBM) is the most comprehensive scientific meeting of the Brazilian mathematical community. Held biennially since 1957, it involves undergraduate and graduate students from all over the country, as well as leading Brazilian and internationally renowned researchers. This edition celebrates the 60th anniversary of the uninterrupted existence of the Brazilian Mathematics Colloquia, with resounding success in each edition.
Held biennially since 1957, it involves undergraduate and graduate students from all over the country.
The 31st Brazilian Mathematical Congress (CBM) is part of the activities of the 2017-2018 Gomes Souza Mathematics Biennium, a tribute to one of the pioneers of mathematical research in Brazil, the politician from Maranhão, Joaquim Gomes de Souza (1829-1864), popularly known as Souzinha. The Biennium is a huge contribution to the promotion of scientific exchange, attracting many of the best international specialists in the field to our country.
This is an opportunity to disseminate the results achieved by Brazilian mathematics, benefiting the entire community. In addition to aiding the development of existing projects, the biennium will serve as a gateway for the creation of new research and programs in the field of mathematics.
This is a historic opportunity to promote the dissemination of Mathematics and its relevance to society. To this end, IMPA is planning a series of initiatives (seminars, workshops, festivals, and others) to be held throughout 2017 and 2018, targeting society as a whole, the school and university environment, and the scientific community.
